AboutThis tool allows the user to enter information about their voting location to estimate minimum, average, and maximum expected voter wait times. These values are calculated by inputting location-specific information, including the voting process steps, the amount of available voting equipment, the number of questions on the ballot, and either the number of voters currently in line OR a voter’s current position in line. Rest assured, no information that you enter is saved or stored by PLEJ or EDI.
Steps to Vote- Use the “Steps to Vote” menu to add or remove voting steps to reflect your voting process. To REMOVE a step, click the trash can icon to the right of the voting step. Deleted voting steps will appear at the bottom of the “Steps to Vote” menu. To ADD one of these steps back in, click the plus sign on that step.
- Click and drag the six dots to the right of the voting steps to rearrange them. Steps should be listed in the order that they occur, with the first step at the top of the list and the last step at the bottom.
- Within each voting step, enter the number of resources or stations available in the voting location. The quantity should reflect how many voters can simultaneously perform that step. For example: a single voting booth would be a quantity of 1, while a single table that three voters can use to mark their ballot simultaneously should be a quantity of 3.
- CLICK the “Estimate Wait Time” button under the gauge to estimates how long voters will wait in line before beginning the voting process. Adjust numbers to see the impact on wait time.
